What is a spa skimmer?
The skimmer is one of the most important elements of your spa as it directly affects the filtration system. It is responsible for removing debris, impurities, and surface particles from the water to ensure clear, clean, and pleasant water. It consists of a removable fine mesh basket that collects small dirt to direct it towards the filtration system. Opting for a skimmer like those from the Waterway brand will allow you to enjoy an efficient filtration system and cleaner water. Our skimmers are compatible with our various filters. Moreover, they seamlessly integrate into your spa, ensuring effective filtration without compromising the aesthetics of your setup. Made with durable and resistant materials, our drains and skimmers contribute to the proper functioning and longevity of your spa.
Where is the skimmer located in a spa?
Generally, the skimmer is located at the water's surface level. It is positioned on the waterline at the wall opposite the return nozzles. Skimmers can come in different forms:
- Skimmer with basket
- Telescopic skimmer
- Grate skimmer
- Single skimmer
- Double filter skimmer
Our skimmers are suitable for all types of hot tubs and are available in various colors.
How to maintain my skimmer?
If you want to ensure your spa's proper functioning and good filtration, taking care of the skimmer is essential. It is recommended to check and maintain it daily while using your spa. To prevent clogging and dirt buildup in the skimmer and pump, we advise you to regularly empty, clean, and rinse the basket. This way, you can enjoy clear and clean water while extending your skimmer's lifespan.
However, maintenance may vary. If you own a spa with an integrated cartridge filter skimmer, maintenance is crucial. It is important to maintain your cartridge filters properly for optimal filtration. Daily water filtration is essential. Cleaning your cartridge filters should be done once or twice a week and replaced every 3 months.
By following these cleaning steps, you ensure the longevity of your skimmer and optimal filtration.
What are spa drains for?
The drains in your spa play a significant role by ensuring effective drainage to remove impurities and debris. They prevent unwanted particles from entering your spa's filtration system. We offer different types of drains to suit your needs:
- Suction drain: it sucks water to be filtered through the nozzles
- Bottom drain: used solely for draining the spa by gravity. Installed at the bottom of the pool, it should not be used like suction drains to draw water through a pump.
- Return drain: it contributes to proper circulation of filtered water, expelling impurities from the spa, and evenly distributing maintenance products. It helps achieve clean and transparent water.
We provide a wide range of spa drains to ensure effective dirt removal.
